The purposes of the Pacific Palisades Library Association, Inc. (also known as "Friends of the Palisades Library"), shall be to enhance the development and operation of the facilities and services of the Palisades Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library; to foster good will and understanding between the Palisades community and the Palisades Branch Library; and to enhance library services throughout the Los Angeles Public Library system.

Following the devastating loss of our beloved local literary landmark in the historic Palisades Fire of 2025, our mission has a new urgency.
 

Today, the Friends of the Palisades Library serve as a crucial bridge to our future. While we are actively supporting our community at our temporary branch library, we are also actively building a dedicated Capital Fund to help finance and advocate for a state-of-the-art permanent library.  From funding hands-on technology support and local children's programs to hosting community milestones—like our historic first post fire book sale—we ensure that the literary heart of the Palisades comes back stronger than ever.

Our efforts promote close relations between the residents of the Palisades community and the Palisades Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. We foster development of cultural and literary programs for the Palisades community. We encourage gifts of desirable collections of books and other publications, acceptable works of art, music endowments, bequests, cash, securities and gifts of appreciated property for public use and enjoyment.

The Friends enrich the Palisades Library resources through funds derived from memberships and activities. The Friends provide financial or other support to other Branch Libraries in order to enhance their library services. And we assist in making purchases and provide financial support for the development, maintenance and operating expenses of the Palisades Library, and other related matters.
